THE TWO-STAGE MAN DOOR
Fred Gerling: When a large mobile system such as our TV production trailers and trucks go down the highway at about 60MPH, the pressure in the interior is almost a full inch lower that the outside pressure. This anomaly causes an interesting issue on all door seals in that heavy precipitation is pulled into the interior due to the lower pressure. At the same time, these doors need to provide easy egress and a lot of it during an event and especially during set up.
The Gerling and Associates Two-stage door solves this issue. For transport, there is a wedge that is seated in the upper door jamb and in the lower door jamb sealing the door in a very hard shut position eliminating any water penetration. When the unit is set up in place for a show, the wedge locks are released and a easy to use lock system, such as our crash bar is used for easy egress. This solution is only found on G&A mobile systems and is another value added and unique demonstration to all that G&A knows mobile systems and the issues they encounter in both travel and during any event. The dual stage door lock, learned through experience.
