It may sound overly simplistic, but the key to the success of an Expanding Side Television Production Trailer is that the side opens when it is supposed to, and that it closes when it is supposed to! Gerling expanding sides are manual, which eliminates the possibility of an electric or hydraulic device failing. Linear bearing slides at each end do not permit any shimmying or mistiming, and our exclusive floor panel system eliminates actuation issues so common in other designs.

Gerling routinely fields 53’expanding side trailers that are under 75,000lb fully equipped. Our methods and materials are exclusive to us, and have been developed as a result of experience that only our designers and craftsmen have! There are no surprises at the end of the build, as we accurately compute the weight of every trailer and vehicle we construct, at each point the vehicle contacts the ground, well before construction ever begins. The trailer cannot earn money sitting at the weigh station, and our trailers simply do not come to grief in this manner.
Emperor Expanding Side Trailer Available Seamless or Riveted Side
While riveted side construction is more common for Production and “B” units for operations in North America, it is common for units fielded in Europe to be supplied with seamless, construction. Gerling provides both, with seamless construction available at a slight premium, including our 4 year, unlimited mileage warranty on the main frame and body construction.

While Gerling interior construction, fit, and finish have set the gold standard for years, it’s not all just light oak and tightloop carpeting. Over the course of our evolving the art of Television Production mobiles, our craftsmen and designers have brought the imaginations of our client base to life. From clear acrylic countertops to “moving” LED lighting, our interiors have gone from being just strictly a working environment to actually being a showcase for our clients’ clients, and have really created a buzz throughout the industry.
Proper, commercial grade HVAC built specifically for Remote Television is not just within the realm of expanding side trailers. Only Gerling has wall mount air conditioners that are custom built for the industry. Two wall-mounted G-Force air-conditioners, ten (10) tons (120,000BTU) each, provide 240,000BTU of ducted cooling and heating directly through the equipment racks and into personnel areas. Included are true hot gas bypass all the way down to 0% operation, along with accumulators that enable seamlessoperation even with altitude change.
